Experiments with Nature

I am currently enjoying the experience of turning the occasional green piece and leaving nature to works it's magic.  The latest experiement involves a large, solid form that nature has already got a grip of and is slowly but surely changing the piece as the days go by.

This was turned from a beautiful piece of Scots Pine and also has the added benefit of acting as a natural air freshner.  At present, I have chosen to set a little t-light into the top, the gentle glow gives the piece a rather enigmatic or majestic quality.

Nature is being allowed to control and dictate the final outcome for this piece, a nervous and exciting time!

The Power of Nature

It has now been 7 days since this piece was stained and nature hasn't finished it's work yet.  The piece has been left alone to develop and change as it sees fit.  Below are a few images showing how nature has changed this work.

The Power of Colour

As originally intended this piece has now been stained.

The movement in the piece has also stopped and nature has been left to dictate the final stages of form.

I'm not entirely sure if this piece is finished.  I like the way it has turned out so far but am open to suggestions on where to go from here.  Maybe in the bucket!!!
